FSX Aerosoft F-16 RNZAF Repaint

BACKGROUND:

In 1998 the Royal New Zealand Air Force selected the F-16 to replace it's aging fleet of A-4K Skyhawks in the air combat wing. The RNZAF sought 28 F-16A/B variants which, at the time, had been destined for Pakistan but were embargoed by the US government. In 2001, however, the newly-elected government of New Zealand abandoned the acquisition of the F-16s and disbanded the RNZAF's air combat wing altogether.

Had the F-16s seen service with the RNZAF, they would have served with No. 75 Squadron and No.2 Squadron, both based at RNZAF Base Ohakea near Palmerston North in the North Island. The repaint included is not based on any particular reference material, as no F-16s actually entered service with the RNZAF, but is in line with the RNZAF's current low-vis grey paint schemes, with a rendition of the 75 Squadron tail flash and carrying the fictional serial NZ6301. These versions have also been re-branded F-16K, reflecting the Kiwi habit of tweaking and upgrading their aircraft to suit their unique needs.

INSTALLING:

1. Four texture files are included, three for Aerosoft's AM models and one for the clean C model. Extract all four texture folders to your desktop.

2. The folder labelled "Texture.RNZAF_AM_AA" goes in the "...\SimObjects\Airplanes\Aerosoft F-16AM 120-9-370" folder. This version is configured for the Air Defence role. See below for the aircraft.cfg entry.

3. The folder labelled "Texture.RNZAF_AM_AG" goes in the "...\SimObjects\Airplanes\Aerosoft F-16AM 120-9-12-370-131-33" folder. This version is configured for the Ground Attack role.

4. The folder labelled "Texture.RNZAF_AM_LR" goes in the "...\SimObjects\Airplanes\Aerosoft F-16AM 120-9-370-300" folder. This version is configured for a long-range ferry flight (three external tanks).

5. The folder labelled "Texture.RNZAF_AM_Clean" goes in the "...\SimObjects\Airplanes\Aerosoft F-16C Clean" folder. This version is naked.

FINALLY:

This repaint was made using the Aerosoft repaint kit and so is free for all to use. It's not the flashest repaint, but it's what I could manage with my limited knowledge and time. Hopefully it works and you like it. If it buggers your computer up, I'm sorry - use these at your own risk.
