No, I don't think this is an issue for the Catalina. I asked the crew of the Catalina in Lelystad about additional drag and they tell me it is almost negligible. Interesting though, the only way to know the setting of the cowl flaps is to LOOK at the engines, with a flash light at night when needed.

Oh great, I wasn't sure if it was an issue with the bird or not, thanks for the answer. Looking forward to flying it, and doing some repaints.

Where's that scenery ? I know it's MoCat's Caribbean Seaplane Operations/Tours (have it already), but where ? Lovely video. It reminds me of one of those racing planes they used to fly the route between London and Melbourne in the thirties...

No, they're freeware. Just search for the authors name and you will find alot!
Thank you, Mr. Campinge!

Also, Is there any chance of getting A2A/SHOCKWAVE's 3D REDUX lights on the Catalina? I mean, she would look really sexy with those on - especially the rotating beacon and Taxi/Landing lights, etc. B)

or

Considering looking at this video at their Lights (At about 75% through it; near the end).

This would be an awesome addition. B)

Thanks again!

Mathijs, I know its probably unlikely, but is it possible to put that flashlight into the model ? I have absolutely no idea how it could be done, but on a dark squally night over New Guinea, it would be nice to check over those motors from the comfort of your dry cosy cockpit.

Secondly, what is the possibility of having a bare metal skin for the Catalina that we can add our own markings and registration letters to, using the paint kit ? These vintage aircraft look great in a combination of bare metal and weathered paint work.

Anyway, even if neither is possible, keep those great screenshots coming. :)

I'm looking forward to fly it!

What about vc shadows? I see that they aren't perfect, but when the cockpit is all windowed, it's a nice, realistic effect.

It seems to me that the yokes are upside down... the flat side is over the legs, for free space and movement.

Is'nt it?

If you have the Shockwave Redux lights, you can put them on ANY aircraft, default or payware. It should describe how to do it in the manual, and it takes a little work to fine tune them but again, you can manually put them on any airplane, rotocraft, boat, motorcycle, or whatever you have.

Thanks Mr. FSX Addict!

I am aware; but, there is rarely any substitute for a developers work ... And, I'm sure you'll agree that NOT everybody is good at doing that. ;)

I am experimenting with the flashlight, but the lights stuff in FSX is buggy beyond believe so I doubt this ever will work out.

I'm sure you are right Finn, however, I saw a lot of birds of golden ages with that yokes turned over that I wonder...

Sorry!

...and about vc shadows: do you put them in the model?

The model is fully 'closed architecture' so when the graphics system can handle it and 'self shadowing' is activated it will do so.

Great!

Thank you for your reply, all these functions (model, checklist, damage, ecc.) and all these screenshots bring this plane at the top!

This is the Vintage model.

The modern version will get more modern radios, placed where the oldstyle Sperry autopilot now is mounted.
